BEIJING, Aug.27 (Xinhua) -- The establishment of diplomatic relations between El Salvador and China provides cooperation and development opportunities for El Salvador, and the country is keen to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China, a Salvadoran official said.
Roberto Lorenzana, press secretary to President Salvador Sanchez Ceren, noted that the Belt and Road Initiative is very attractive to El Salvador, and the country is looking forward to entering into dialogue with China in this regard to promote trade and investment development.
El Salvador has signed free trade agreements with many countries, so Chinese investment in El Salvador implies taking advantage of these accords, said Lorenzan.
On August 21, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Salvadorean Foreign Minister Carlos Castaneda signed a joint communique in Beijing, announcing the establishment of diplomatic ties.(Edited by Yang Yifan, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
