BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- With the freight train X8044 from Hamburg of Germany arriving at Wujiashan railway container center station in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, on Sunday, China-Europe freight trains have made 10,000 trips since 2011.
The China-Europe freight trains refer to the container trains supporting freight flow between China and Europe, and the countries along the Belt and Road routes.
In recent years, China Railway has constantly improved service quality of China-Europe freight trains, and achieved the rapid growth in the number of the trips made by the trains, which has strongly promoted China's opening-up and economic and trade exchanges along the Belt and Road routes, according to an official of the China Railway who is in charge of the China-Europe freight train service.
Since its launch in 2011, the China-Europe freight trains have developed rapidly. In particular, in 2017, the China-Europe freight trains made 3,673 trips, up 116 percent year on year, exceeding the total trips made from 2011 to 2016. In the first half of 2018, 2,490 trips were made, up 69 percent year on year. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
