NEW YORK, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Lower Manhattan in New York has become a destination for movie enthusiasts this summer as Chinese conglomerate Fosun International Ltd. hosts free movie night series at the 28 Liberty Plaza.
In partnership with the Alliance for Downtown New York, Fosun shows movies outdoors for free on the plaza every Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. beginning July 26 and running through the end of August.
The "Throwback Thursday Summer Film Series" feature films from the 1980s and 1990s. The films are projected on a screen 15 feet high by 20 feet wide in the 1.5 acre plaza.
Guests can enjoy free popcorn for every film, and comfy, cozy front-row beanbag chairs are available on a first come, first served basis.
Viewers can vote for their favorite "throwback" film to be screened on the final night of the series on Aug. 23. The winning film will be announced the week before the final screening.
The 28 Liberty Plaza is known for "Group of Four Trees," an amazing three to four stories tall, black and white sculpture by French sculptor Jean Dubuffet as well as a Sunken Garden by Isamu Noguchi.
