BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- East China's Shanghai will improve the infrastructure software and hardware functions, strengthen trade finance, and strive to build a national import hub, said Shen Weihua, deputy head of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, quoted by www.chinanews.com on Wednesday.
In order to build a national import hub, Shanghai will improve functions of the infrastructure such as Yangshan deep water port and Waigaoqiao bonded area and attract the global cargo and domestic transit goods to spread nationwide via Shanghai, said Shen.
Meanwhile, Shanghai will continue to promote the construction of "single-window" customer clearance service. At present, more than 200,000 enterprises across the country have enjoyed the "single-window" services which enable them to complete administrative procedures for foreign trade, such as administrative examination and approval, certification, authentication, and customs declaration.
Shen said that to build an import hub, finance is indispensable. In addition to settlement, there are many other financial products in international trade. Shanghai's goal of building a financial center and a trade center can provide richer and better financing functions for enterprises nationwide. The City will also make breakthroughs in systems and mechanisms to make trade facilitation more in line with international standards and lower costs of the enterprises’ imports via Shanghai.
