BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- China-Cambodia cultural innovation park began construction recently in Siem Reap, a major city in Cambodia.
The Belt and Road Initiative will drive the development of tourism industry along the route, including Cambodia. From January to May in 2018, Siem Reap received more than 500,000 tourists from China, an increase of 27 percent year on year.
Liu Zhijie, Director of the Siem Reap Consular Office of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Cambodia said that the China-Cambodia cultural innovation park will not only provide a modern and new creative and cultural place for Cambodian people, but also play an active role in promoting cultural and artistic exchanges between China and Cambodia, and enhancing the traditional friendship between the people of the two countries.
China-Cambodia cultural innovation park is invested by Yunnan Culture Industry Investment Holdings Co., Ltd. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed in early 2020. (Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
