BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) -- North China’s Shanxi Province will promote traditional industries such as metallurgy, electric power, chemical, building material and coking to be more environment-friendly for green development, according to an implementation plan recently released by the local authorities.
The plan proposed that by 2020, energy consumption per 10,000 yuan (about 1,500 U.S. dollars) of GDP in Shanxi will drop by 15 percent, and the comprehensive utilization of solid waste such as coal gangue, flyash, desulfurization gypsum and smelting slag will reach 130 million metric tons (tonnes).
Meanwhile, Shanxi will select a batch of industrial parks with complete facilities, high sustainable growth capacity and good industrial foundation and support them in terms of the capital credit and preferential policies, according to the plan. (Edited by Li Haoran, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
