BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The cargo train from Chengdu to Tilburg, the Netherlands, started its 2,000th trip in June 28, making it the first one to achieve the record among the ten China-Europe train routes, according to the report by the Economic Observer.
After five years of operation, the Chengdu-Tilburg railway route has become an important path connecting Asia and Europe and has extended to 14 cities in China and 16 cities abroad.
According to a new document Chengdu government recently released, the city will accelerate construction of a hub and a gateway to the world and make full use of the train route under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
In fact, to serve the Belt and Road Initiative and develop through opening up have become the first principle for Chengdu to accelerate the construction of an international gateway.
This year, the China Center for Belt and Road Studies and Training and the Belt and Road World Cultural City Center settled in Chengdu. In the next four years, Chengdu plans to build a platform for international cooperation in the fields of culture, finance, technology and commerce and connect the needs and markets of countries along the Belt and Road to benefit enterprises that are committed to bringing in foreign resources and going overseas.
