LONDON, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Hainan Tourism Development Commission recently has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with British well-known tourism operator Thomas Cook Group.
According to the MOU, Thomas Cook will set up a branch office in Sanya, south China’s Hainan province, to provide service to the European market through customized marketing programs, which will further improve the popularity of Sanya as a tourist destination and at the same time enhance the ability of the city to receive international tourists.
Sun Ying, Director of the Hainan Tourism Development Commission, said that the Thomas Cook Group is an ideal partner for Hainan, as the company has extensive experience in developing international holiday destinations and owns good market channels.
Thomas Cook has more than 22,000 employees and its revenue in 2017 exceeded 9 billion pounds, approximately 11.9 billion US dollars. (Edited by Yang Yifan, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
