China to strengthen food trade, co-op with countries along Belt and Road -- China's grain enterprises will be encouraged to strengthen grain trade and industrial cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road routes, according to officials of the State Grain and Reserves Administration at the recent “Belt and Road” Summit Forum for Grain Security held in Lanzhou City, northwest China's Gansu Province. China will give policy and financial support in the areas of grain circulation and infrastructure construction, encourage and support the domestic grain enterprises to carry out multi-faceted and multi-level food trade and industrial cooperation with the countries along the Belt and Road, said the official. Gansu is currently constructing the food transporting channels connecting countries along the Belt and Road. In addition to accelerating the construction of a port designated for grain imports in Lanzhou New Area, five grain logistics parks will be built in cities of Lanzhou, Baiyin, Tianshui, Pingliang and Wuwei.
China to further open A-shares market to foreign investors -- China will further open its A-shares market to foreign investors, the country's top securities regulator said on July 8. Foreign individuals working in the Chinese mainland, and those who work overseas at companies listed on the A-shares market and enjoy equity incentives, will be allowed to open A-shares securities accounts, according to a statement on a draft rules revision released by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC). The securities regulatory body of the countries of qualified foreigners should have already established a regulatory cooperation mechanism with the CSRC, the statement said.
China to build 300 national forest cities by 2025 -- China will build 300 national forest cities by 2025, according to the national forest city development plan (2018-2025) released at the recent Eco Forum Global Annual Conference Guiyang 2018 in southwest China’s Guiyang City. Compiled by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the development plan proposed that China will build forest city belts along the “Silk Road Economic Belt”, the “Yangtze River Economic Belt” and the “Coastal Economic Belt”, and national forest urban agglomerations in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan City Group, Central Plains, and Guanzhong-Tianshui.

Beijing to promote development of cultural and creative industries -- China’s Beijing government authorities released a document to promote development of the cultural and creative industries, the Xinhua-run cnstock.com reported on July 5. According to the document, Beijing strives to cultivate one or two leading cultural and creative enterprises with annual revenues of more than 100 billion yuan and more than five leading enterprises with annual revenues of more than 50 billion yuan within five years. It aims to see the city's local state-owned cultural enterprises assets reach 260 billion yuan, with their operating income exceeding 60 billion yuan by 2020.
Shanghai rolls out 100 measures to further expand opening-up -- The Shanghai municipal government on July 10 introduced a total of 100 new measures covering five areas in a bid to further expand the city's opening-up. To upgrade Shanghai's status as an international financial center, the local government proposed greatly easing market access in the banking industry for foreign capital, relaxing the restrictions on the proportion of shares and business scope in the securities industry for foreign investors, and encouraging opening-up of the insurance industry. Shanghai encourages foreign investors to invest in advanced manufacturing and fully implement the management model of pre-establishment national treatment (PENT) with a negative list. It will further open up the fields of automobile, aviation, shipbuilding, green import remanufacturing and maintenance, promote the landing of major industrial projects, and spare no effort to build automobile and electronic information industries, according to Huang Ou, deputy head of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, at a press conference on July 11. He said that according to the national deployment, Shanghai will speed up the elimination of restrictions on foreign share holding in the automobile manufacturing industry and the number of joint ventures of vehicle production.
Shenzhen shortens construction project approval time to be within 90 working days -- Shenzhen municipal government announced on July 10 that the construction project approval system reform had made breakthrough. From August 1, the approval time for construction from project establishment to obtaining construction permit would be no more than 90 working days. For government investment construction projects, approval time would be within 85 working days for house construction projects and within 90 working days for municipal projects. For social investment construction projects, it would be within 33 working days from signing land use rights transfer contract to obtaining construction permit and within 45 working days from signing land use rights transfer contract to the completion of the real estate registration, according to the announcement.

China’s Henan unveils plan to build Zhengzhou int’l air cargo hub -- Henan Provincial Government and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) recently unveiled a plan for the construction of Zhengzhou international air cargo hub, according to the report by the Xinhua-run cnstock.com. Under the plan, Zhengzhou airport will become a global air cargo (integrated) hub, with air cargo and passenger throughput ranking the top positions across the world. It will form a system of four-hour airport freight transportation covering the whole country and 20-hour covering the world. By 2025, Zhengzhou airport is expected to see its annual cargo throughput capacity exceed 3 million metric tons (tonnes) and annual passenger throughput reach 53 million person-times. China steps up crackdown on environmental offenses along Yangtze River -- Chinese prosecutors have stepped up efforts to prosecute offenders causing environmental damage along the Yangtze River in a special operation since 2015. About 47,000 suspects involved in environmental offenses were litigated from January 2015 to June this year in 11 provinces and municipalities along the river, according to a statement issued at a regional meeting of prosecutors held on July 9 in Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, central China.
