BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhua) -- South China's Hainan province is going to launch about 20 new international air routes to visa-free countries in the second half of this year, according to a report on Ecns.cn.
In recent years, Hainan province has been promoting internationalization of its tourism industry, and has opened 53 international routes.
In the second half of the year, Hainan will continue to open international routes to cities such as London, Macau and St. Petersburg.
Statistics showed that in the first half of this year, Hainan province saw the international passenger throughput at 946,000. This is inseparable from the “59-nation visa-free policy” implemented in May. This policy has attracted many overseas tourists to Hainan for sightseeing, and Hainan’s civil aviation industry has entered a new period of growth.
So far, among the 59 visa-free countries, Hainan has opened 34 international routes to Italy, Australia, Russia, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asian countries. (Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
