SHANGHAI, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, a over-150-year-old chamber with more than 2,500 leading company members, signed a strategic partnership MoU with the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC) on Thursday, during a Geneva economic delegation's 10-day visit to China, inspired by the Chinese innovation.

"We believe that the agreement will serve as a robust catalyst for growth to the benefit of our respective members and consolidate ties between Geneva's highly dynamic business community and member countries in the landmark Belt and Road Initiative. The Belt and Road Initiative will certainly bring about a milestone win-win scenario," said Vincent Subilia, deputy director general of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services.

Geneva is committed to playing a more active role in the Belt and Road, said Subilia. Swiss companies can contribute more in the fields of machinery, financial service and industrial technology to prompt the development of the areas along the routes.

Tian Xiaohong, deputy secretary general of SRCIC, a transnational business associations gathering over 100 chambers of commerce from 75 countries, said that the countries along the Belt and Road routes will benefit more, as Geneva not only boasts many companies in high-end industries, but also gathers resources from all over the world as an important international city.

Swiss companies can learn a lot from Chinese partners, especially from their global-leading innovation, said Subilia. The delegation members were inspired by their visit to Chinese companies such as Alibaba, DJI, start-up incubators and accelerators such as X.Factory, i-Space, and renowned universities.

During their visit, a collaboration agreement has been signed, notably between the University of Geneva and the Graduate School of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen (Open FIESTA).
