BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Xinhua Silk Road, a national Belt and Road information service platform under Xinhua News Agency, is going to introduce its Italian version of Xinhua Silk Road in Milan.
Witnessed by Chinese and Italian government officials, enterprises, think tanks and media representatives, the announcement was made during a promotion and business matchmaking event held on June 28 in Milan, Italy.

The Italian version of Xinhua Silk Road will be jointly launched by Xinhua’s China Economic Information Service (CEIS) and the Italian financial media giant Class Editori S.p.A., aiming for the win-win development of the Chinese and Italian enterprises through providing Belt and Road related high quality information and market services.
Bilateral economic and trade cooperation has been expanding since China and Italy established diplomatic ties in November 1970, with bilateral trade developing steadily and two-way investment growing rapidly. Such exchanges and cooperation have been further accelerated with the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.

After studying the large information demand for Sino-Italy cooperation, China Economic Information Service and Class Editori decided to combine Xinhua News Agency’s advantages in resources of information gathering and releasing and Class Editori’s advantage in financial information distribution channels in Italy to jointly build the Italian version of Xinhua Silk Road, in a bid to provide services for cooperation between Chinese and Italian companies.
Italy is traditionally strong in building machinery, automobiles, furniture and making leather shoes and textile products. It is imperative to tap in China's huge market and strengthen cooperation with Chinese companies, while China has extensive experience in the field of infrastructure construction such as railway, highway, aviation, telecommunication and mobile Internet. Therefore, there is huge room for further cooperation.
The Italian version of Xinhua Silk Road will provide all-dimensional economic information services to promote information communication and sharing between Chinese and Italian government organizations and enterprises to help them discover new opportunities and strengthen cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Italian economist and former Prime Minister Prodi called on Italy to seize its own advantages and actively participate in the construction of Belt and Road.
Representatives from Italian infrastructure sectors and enterprises have conducted in-depth discussions on how to actively integrate into the development framework of China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and expressed their hope that the Italian version of Xinhua Silk Road could be launched as soon as possible.

The efforts made by Xinhua Silk Road in the exchange and cooperation between Chinese and Italian enterprises have received strong support from all parties. Gu Xueming, president of the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC), said that the CAITEC will work with Xinhua Silk Road to make full use of their think tank advantages in the economic and trade field, and actively serve enterprises by using research results in various aspects such as cooperation planning, country-by-country reporting and market research in a bid to make greater contributions to the promotion of new development in China-Italy economic and trade relations.
Yang Zaiping, secretary-general of the Asian Financial Cooperation Association, expressed his congratulation on the launch of the Italian version of Xinhua Silk Road and called on Italy to actively deepen its cooperation and exchanges with China in the financial sector.
In addition to the launch of the online Xinhua Silk Road Italian version, CEIS and Class Editori will explore more concrete cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative in multiple fields, including investment contacts, transaction matching, personnel training, product promotion, etc.
