BEIJING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Thailand will build a digital park in the eastern region to create an intelligent Eastern Economic Corridor(EEC) and smart cities, and welcome Chinese enterprises to invest in there, Pichet Durongkaveroj, minister of Digital Economy and Society in Thailand said on June 25.
Thailand currently has great development space in the use of big data to coordinate urban construction, logistics, and environmental management. The development of smart cities in China is in good shape, and Chinese companies have great room for smart agriculture, smart logistics, smart travel, and smart tourism in Thailand.
As one of the flagship projects of EEC, the Digital Park will provide foreign investors with preferential policies such as the reduction of corporate income tax and the reduction of personal income tax for researchers.
Furthermore, Thailand will build the nation’s first college for Internet of Things in the EEC Digital Park and provide companies with 5G laboratories, cloud innovation laboratories, artificial intelligence design laboratories, and data analysis centers.
In recent years, high-tech, digital economy and other fields have become the highlights of China-Thailand pragmatic cooperation. Last year, the Innovation Cooperation Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Bangkok was officially launched, providing a new platform for Sino-Thai cooperation in science and technology innovation. Chinese companies such as Huawei, Alibaba and JD.com have come to invest in Thailand and promoted China-Thailand digital economic cooperation. (Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org )
