BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- East China's Xiamen city saw its foreign trade with the countries along the Belt and Road routes total 73.76 billion yuan in the first five months of the year, up 13.3 percent year on year, accounting for 31 percent of the city's total foreign trade during the period, according to the local customs.
To be specific, its exports to the Belt and Road countries amounted to 40.25 billion yuan during the period, an increase of 7.3 percent year on year, while its imports from those countries stood at 33.51 billion yuan, an increase of 21.4 percent year on year.
It is worth mentioning that the ASEAN has become Xiamen's most important foreign trade market. From January to May this year, Xiamen's imports and exports with the ASEAN amounted to 41.54 billion yuan, an increase of 15.9 percent year on year, accounting for 56.3 percent of its total foreign trade with the countries along the Belt and Road routes.
