Situated in east China's coastal area, with a coastal line of 487 km, and embracing the two metropolises of Beijing and Tianjin, Hebei province enjoys an ideal geographic location and possesses competitive edge in the economic activities in the Bohai-Rim and area Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic zone, which are designated as a priority for economic development in China. <br></br> Over the past two decades since China adopted the reform and opening-up policy, Hebei has made great achievements in its modernization drive. Hebei has become one of the fastest growing areas in China and there is room to develop and expand. <br></br> Hebei is one of the major production bases of cereals, cotton and edible oil in China and serves as an important base of aquatic and livestock products in north China. Hebei is also among the major provinces with rich mineral resources. <br></br> Hebei realized 2,980.61 billion yuan of GDP in 2015, up 6.8% year on year, and its industrial added value reached 1,438.80 billion yuan, up 4.7% year on year. Fixed-asset investment grew 10.4% year on year in 2015 to 2,944.83 billion yuan, and its Consumer Price Index (CPI) growth stood at 0.9%.

Shanxi Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Shanxi Province covers an area of 156,700 square kilometers, accounting for 1.6% of China’s total area. The province stretches 682 kilometers from north to south and 385 kilometers from east to west. <br></br> The province belongs to the loess plateau, with the layout boundary of a parallelogram slanting from north-east to south-west. Mountainous region and hills make up 80.1% of the whole province while the figure for plains and valleys is 19.9%. <br></br> By the end of 2015, there were 36.64 million permanent residents in the province, among which 0.3% were ethnic minorities, including Hui, Man, Mongol, Yi, Miao and Tujia, etc, according to a sample survey on the population of the province in 2015. <br></br> Shanxi’s economy saw over 10% annual growth in the past three decades but its growth has slowed down as the province determined to upgrade economic structure and accelerate reforms. <br></br> Shanxi boasts rich reserves of coal. Reserves of coal, coal bed methane, bauxite, refractory clay, laterite and potassic rock rank first in China. Reserves of golden red stone, pearl rock, gallium, vermiculite, grey rock for glasses take up the second place. The proved reserves of coal amount to 260 billion tons, or one-third of the whole country's total. Hence Shanxi has been known as "the Ocean of Coal." With the features of full types and good quality, coal is extensively distributed in Datong, Ningwu, Western mountain, Huoxi, Hedong and Qinshui coalfields. <br></br> Shanxi’s gross domestic product (GDP) stood at 1.28 trillion yuan in 2015, and the growth rate slowed to 3.1%. The province’s growth ranked the 24th among the 31 provinces and autonomous regions on the Chinese mainland in 2015.

Shandong Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Situated at the lower reaches of the Yellow River and on China's eastern coastline, Shandong Province's territory consists of the Shandong Peninsular and adjacent inlands. Protruding into the conjunction area of the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, the peninsula faces the Liaodong Peninsular of Liaoning Province over the sea. Its inland adjoins the provinces of Hebei, Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu. The province stretches 420 km from south to north and 700 km from east to west, covering an area of 156,700 square kilometers. <br></br> Shandong is rich in marine resources. Its offshore area makes up 37% of the total surface area of the Bohai and Yellow seas, with a shoal area accounting for 15% of the nation's total. <br></br> A total of 128 varieties of minerals, or 78% of that found in China, have been discovered in the province, of which 33 have their surveyed deposits listed among the top tens of the nation. <br></br> One of China's major agricultural production bases, Shandong is known as "a warehouse of grains, cotton, and oil, and the land of fruits and aquatic products." <br></br> The province is one of China's important energy bases, with the Shengli Oilfield being the second largest of its kind in the country, and Zhongyuan, another oilfield, having a major part on its territory. The crude oil produced in Shandong makes up one-third of the nation's total. <br></br> With beautiful natural landscapes and numerous historical and cultural relics, Shandong has rich tourist resources. It offers a string of tourist attractions, such as Mount Taishan and the Temple, Mansion and Cemetery of Confucius, two World Heritage sites. <br></br> Shandong realized 6,300.23 billion yuan of GDP in 2015, up 8% year on year, and its industrial added value reached 2,948.59 billion yuan, up 7.4% year on year. Fixed-asset investment grew 13.9% year on year in 2015 to 4738.15 billion yuan, and its Consumer Price Index (CPI) growth stood at 1.2% year on year.

Qinghai Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Qinghai Province lies in the northeast of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau with an area of 722,300 square kilometers. Situated 89°35′-103°04′ east longitude and 31°9′-39°19′ north latitude, it got its name from a lake called Qinghai Lake, which is the biggest inland saltwater lake in China. <br></br> Flanked by two big mountain ranges – Qilian in the north, Tanggula in the south, 4/5 of this highland averages 3,000 meters above sea level. In its middle, stands another big mountain spur – the Kunlun. About 95% of the province’s land is pastureland. Two major Chinese waters, the Yangtze and the Yellow Rivers all originate here: one from the southwest slop of the main peak of Tanggula; one from northern slope of Bayanhar. This feature has earned the province a name as the source of the rivers. <br></br> Qinghai is the divide between farming area and pastoral area and contains three kinds of climate patterns, namely continental monsoon climate, inland arid climate and Qinghai-Tibet plateau climate. The average temperature for a year is from –5.6° C to 8.6° C. <br></br> Qinghai Province has two prefecture-level cities, six autonomous prefectures, three county-level cities, 27 counties and seven autonomous counties. Xining is the capital city of the province. <br></br> Qinghai had a total resident population of 5.88 million by the end of 2015, of which urban population was 2.96 million while rural population was 2.92 million, representing 50.3 % and 49.7% of the total, respectively. The minority population was 2.8 million at the end of 2015, accounting for 47.71% of the total.

Tianjin Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Tianjin is located along the west coast of the Bohai Gulf. <br></br> According to preliminary statistics of Tianjin, Tianjin realized some 1.65 trillion yuan of GDP in 2015, up 9.3% on year. Of that, the primary industry accounted for 21.051 billion yuan, up 2.5%, the secondary industry, 772.36 billion yuan, up 9.2%, and tertiary industry, 860.41 billion yuan, up 9.6%. The sector composition continued to optimize to 1.3:46.7:52.0. <br></br> The value of imports and exports of Tianjin totaled 114.35 billion US dollars in 2015, down 14.6% from 2014. Specifically, the export value decreased 2.7% to 51.18 billion US dollars, while the import value declined 22.3% on year to 63.16 billion US dollars.

Liaoning Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Northeast China's Liaoning province borders the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea in the south and the Korean Peninsula in the east, and faces Japan to the southeast. The province takes an area of 148,000 square kilometers and accounts for 1.5% of China's land mass. <br></br> The province is located in the southern part of middle latitude and eastern coast of Eurasia. It has a temperate continental monsoon climate that rain and hot weather come at the same time with abundant sunlight and significant annual variation in temperature. <br></br> There are 14 prefecture-level cities, 17 county-level cities, 27 counties (including eight ethnic minority autonomous counties) and 56 municipal districts administrated by the government of Liaoning.

Jiangxi Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Jiangxi Province, called Gan for short, lies on the southern bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It borders Zhejiang and Fujian provinces to the east, Guangdong to the south, Hunan to the west, and Hubei and Anhui to the north. Jiangxi dominates the Yangtze River on the north, and connects Wuhan in the upper stream, and Nanjing and Shanghai downstream. It is close to the coastal opening cities in the southeast. Two trunk railways -- Beijing-Kowloon and Zhejiang-Jiangxi lines -- run through the whole province, which provided with convenient transportation and superior location. <br></br> By the end of 2015, Jiangxi’s population reached 45.65 million. There are 38 ethnic groups in the province, with Han people accounting for more than 99% of the total population. <br></br> Jiangxi is famous for its Blue and White Porcelain. The Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) is a key period for the development of the firing techniques of the Blue and White Porcelain in China. Its unique characteristics were based on the techniques of former dynasties. The Blue and White Porcelain had become major porcelain product of China by the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasties (1368-1911). <br></br> Entering the 21st century, Jiangxi has insisted on applying scientific outlook on development, emphasizing on innovations, entrepreneurship, and development in a harmonious way. Taking ecological protection as its first priority, the province aims for a balanced and fast economic development. Jiang’s gross domestic production (GDP) rose 9.1% to 1.67 trillion yuan in 2015. Jiangxi province’s economic structure has been improving in the recent years. In 2015, added value of the primary industry totaled 177.30 billion yuan, rising 3.9% from the previous year; added value of the secondary industry grew 9.4% to 848.73 billion yuan; added value of the tertiary industry increased 10.0% to 646.35 billion yuan. <br></br> Implementing a strategy for new pattern of industrialization, Jiangxi has nurtured and developed industries with its own characteristics, such as optoelectronic industry, high-precision copper-rod, high-grade and special steel products, special car and ship, precision machinery, bio-medication, particular chemical industry, green food, holiday-making tourism, and new-pattern service. <br></br> Thanks to its advantageous position and rich resources, Jiangxi has attracted investors from 70 countries and regions to invest in the province. The investment involved not only traditional industries, such as light industry, textile, mechanical, chemical industry, but also high-tech industries, such as photovoltaic industry, LED (light-emitting diode) materials, copper refining, automotive and spare parts, IT, as well as trade and services.

Henan Province is located in eastern central China, on the plain between the Yellow and Huaihe rivers. As most part of the province lies to the south of the Yellow River, which runs for over 700 kilometers through its territory, it was given the name Henan (River South). Because Henan was called Yuzhou and considered as the center of China more than 2,000 years ago, the province is called Yu for short, and also referred to as Zhongzhou (Central Prefecture) and Zhongyuan (Central Plain). Neighboring Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Hubei, Anhui and Shandong provinces, Henan covers an area of 167,000 square kilometers. <br></br> There are 17 prefecture-level cities in Henan, which are Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Luoyang, Pingdingshan, Anyang, Hebi, Xinxiang, Jiaozuo, Puyang, Xuchang, Luohe, Sanmenxia, Xinyang, Zhoukou, Shangqiu, Nanyang and Zhumadian, and 21 county-level cities and 87 counties <br></br> Henan is one of the most populous provinces in China. By the end of 2015, the total population of Henan province had reached 107.22 million. <br></br> As one of the major birthplaces of the Chinese civilization, Henan has several epoch-making archeological discoveries, including the Peiligang Culture Site dating back to 7,000 years ago, Yanshao Culture Site of some 6,000 years ago, and Dahe Culture Site of more than 5,000 years ago. In ancient China, more than 20 dynasties established their capitals in Henan. <br></br> Henan has kept steady economic growth in recent years and it has been the fifth largest economy among local economies of China. From 2001 to 2013, the province’s average annual growth reached 11.7%. Its gross domestic product (GDP) stood at 3.7 trillion yuan in 2015, rising 8.3% from the previous year. <br></br> Henan is the largest agricultural production province in China and an important producer of agricultural sideline products. It leads the nation in total grain output and in the yields of wheat, sesame, jute, and bluish dogbane. It ranks the second in China in production volumes of cotton, oil plants, and tobacco. Forests and fruit trees are abundant, and traditional medicines have a venerated history in Henan. <br></br> Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE) is one of the four futures exchanges in China and it is the first pilot futures market approved by the State Council. <br></br> At present, commodities listed on ZCE include wheat (strong gluten wheat and common wheat), early long grain Non-glutinous rice, japonica rice, cotton, rapeseed, rapeseed Oil, rapeseed meal, white sugar, steam coal, methanol, pure terephthalic acid (PTA) and flat glass, form a comprehensive range of products covering several crucial areas of the national economy include agriculture, energy, chemical industry and construction materials.

Yunnan Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Called Dian or Yun for short, Yunnan Province is located in the far southwest of China, with the Tropic of Cancer running through its southern part. It borders Guizhou Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the east, Sichuan Province in the north and Tibet Autonomous Region in the northwest. Its bordering countries include Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar. <br></br> Yunnan covers an area of approximately 394,100 square kilometers, or 4.1% of China's total.The terrain of Yunnan is largely mountainous, especially in the north and west of the province. The average elevation of Yunnan is 1,980 meters. <br></br> The province has eight prefecture-level cities and eight autonomous prefectures. <br></br> In 2015, the province realized GDP of 1,371.8 billion yuan, up 8.7% from 2014, with the per capita GDP rising to 29,015 from 27,264 seen in 2014.

Called Zang for short, the Tibet Zang Ethnic Autonomous Region is located in the southwest part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The region borders Sichuan and Yunnan provinces to the east, Qinghai and Xinjiang to the north, and shares borders with India, Nepal, and Myanmar to the south, and bounded by Kashmir to the west. <br></br> Tibet has both snowy sceneries on the plateau and the enchanting mien typical in the south. <br></br> Tourism, Tibet medicine, special biology industry and green plateau-unique foodstuffs, processed husbandry products, local folk handcrafts and mineral mining constitute the economic pillars of Tibet. <br></br> The agriculture of Tibet is based on animal husbandry, with such major livestock and fowl as sheep, goat, yak, yellow cat, dzo, horse, donkey, mule, Tibet chicken, and Tibet pig. Major agriculture crops include Qingke(a highland barley), wheat, pea, colza, etc. <br></br> The local economy of Tibet has been witnessing constant improvements. In 2008, Tibet’s GDP totaled RMB 39.2 billion, ranking the 31st in the country. The gross regional product of Tibet totalled 102.639 billion yuan in 2015, a rise of 11% from 2014 based on comparable prices.

Called Su for short, Jiangsu province is located on the east coast of China. It borders Shandong on the north, Anhui on the west, and Zhejiang and Shanghai on the south. Jiangsu’s coastline extends over 1,000 kilometres along the Yellow Sea, and the Yangtze River passes through Jiangsu’s southern region. <br></br> Jiangsu covers an area of 102,660 square kilometres, approximately 1.06% of the total area of the nation. <br></br> Jiangsu is one of the leading provinces in economic, scientific, and technological development. As one of China’s first provinces embracing the advancement of modernization, Jiangsu has consistently placed first in industrial output. In 2015, Jiangsu province realized GDP of 7011.64 billion yuan, up 8.5% from 2014, with the regional GDP per capita standing at 87995 yuan, up 8.3% year on year. <br></br> Jiangsu has established strong friendships with 234 cities in 48 countries of the world, far more than those of any other province in China.

Ningxia Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is located in northwest China or the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River. It covers an area of 66,400 square kilometers, with mountains and plains taking up 59% and 41% of its territory respectively. It has a population of 6.6154 million. <br></br> Ningxia has had the reputation of “An Oasis in the Hinterland” since ancient times, and has competitive edge in agriculture, energy and tourism. <br></br> The plain area of Ningxia features fertile lands, with 397 kilometres of lands along the Yellow River and an annual runoff volume of 32.5 billion cubic meters. Since the Yellow River can be easily utilized for irrigation, Ningxia has over 400,000 hectares of high and steady-yield irrigated farmlands, making it one of the four gravity irrigation areas of China. 43 varieties of agro-products including rice have been listed as products with national geographic indications. Halal beef and mutton, wine grapes, Gojiberry, selenium sand watermelon and other products are internationally renowned after fine processing. Brand names such as Jiabeilan Wine have won several international awards, and agro-products produced in Ningxia are sold to more than 90 countries and regions around the world. <br></br> Ningxia has an industrial system with pillar industries as coal, electricity, metallurgy, chemical industry, construction material and machinery. High and new-tech industries such as traditional medicine, mechatronics, bio-engineering, energy-conserving and environment-friendly industries and new material are developing fast. <br></br> Ningxia is rich in coal, making it the perfect place for coal-fired power plants. 90% of the reserve is in Ningdong Coal Mine, which produces low-ash, low-sulfur, ultra-low-phosphorus coal that can be easily extracted. The Yinchuan Plain is rich in oil, gas, coalbed natural gas and thermal resources. <br></br> Ningxia boasts unique tourism resources. It is famous for abundant historical sites and splendid cultural heritage. The Great Wall and the ancient Silk Road are symbols of its magnificence and roughness, while the southern beauty here is utterly delightful and exquisite; the Ruins of Shuidonggou in the City of Lingwu is a miniature of pre-historical civilization; the magical Western XiaImperial Tombs bear witness to the rise and fall of the Western Xia some 900 years ago; the picturesque Sand Lake Tourism Area is one of the top 35 tourist destinations of China; the Shapotou Tourism Area was commended by the United Nations as a successful example of sand control; the ancient culture along the Yellow River and the unique way of living of the Hui people have attracted tens of thousands of tourists from home and abroad. <br></br> The economy of Ningxia has been developing fast. In 2015, its GDP stood at 291.18 billion yuan with the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents hitting 25,186 yuan and 9,119 yuan, respectively. The province fulfilled 353.29 billion yuan of fixed assets investment in 2015.

Hubei Province lies in the middle reach of the Yangtze River with an area of 186,000 square km. Situated at 108'21"-116'07" east longitude and 29'05"-33'20" north latitude, it got its name from being located to the north of the Dongting Lake. The terrain of Hubei Province is high in the west and low in the east and wide open to the south, the Jianghan Plain. <br></br> Situated in south-central China, Hubei Province features a subtropical monsoon climate, with annual average temperature at about 15° C (59° F). The province has distinct four seasons with burning hot summer (June, July and August) and chilly winter (December, January and February). <br></br> Hubei has 12 prefecture-level cities, one autonomous prefecture, 38 municipal districts, 24 county-level cities, including 3 sub-prefecture cities, 38 counties, two autonomous counties and one forest region.

Zhejiang Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Called Zhe for short, Zhejiang province is located in the southern part of the Yangtze River Delta on the southeast coast of China. It borders Shanghai and Jiangsu province on the north, Anhui and Jiangxi on the west and Fujian on the south. <br></br> Zhejiang covers an area of 101,800 square km, approximately 1.06% of the total area of the nation, and is one of the smallest provinces of China.The straight-line distance between south and north, east and west of Zhejiang is both about 450 km. <br></br> Zhejiang is one of most economically developed provinces in China. In 2015, Zhejiang province realized GDP of 4,288.6 billion yuan, up 8% from 2014, with the per capita GDP standing at 77,644 yuan, far higher than that of many provinces in China.
