Abstract : The No. 1 generating unit of China-built Upper Atbara hydropower station in Sudan has been connected to the power grid and begun operation from June 11.

BEIJING, June 13 (Xinhua) -- The No. 1 generating unit of China-built Upper Atbara hydropower station in Sudan has been connected to the power grid and begun operation from June 11.
By far, all of the four units in the hydropower station have been put into operation, which will greatly alleviate the electricity shortage in Sudan.
The project has been constructed jointly by Sinohydro Bureau 5 and Harbin Electric International Company Limited. (Edited by Zhang Yuan, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
