BEIJING, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Pingtan cross-strait railway bridge, expected to be open to traffic on April 30, 2019, topped its main fairway bridge’s highest tower recently, reported Fujian Daily.
According to the report, Yuanhong fairway bridge, the main fairway bridge of the cross-strait railroad bridge, is a steel truss hybrid girder cable-stayed bridge with twin towers and its total length is 1193.35 meters.
The topping out of the tower lays a solid foundation for construction of the Fuzhou-Pingtan railway, which, once completed, will largely shorten the railway travel time between Fuzhou, the capital city of southeast China-located Fujian Province, and Pingtan County and form a living circle and an economic circle reachable with a half-hour trip.
Pingtan County and Fuzhou both lie in the coastal areas of east Fujian and the Pingtan comprehensive experimental area, known as the Maldives of Fujian Province, is located in Pingtan County. (Contributed by Duan Jing, duanjing@xinhua.org)
