BEIJING, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The renewable energy power consumption of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region increased to 22.5 billion kilowatt-hours in 2017, accounting for 23 percent of the total power consumption of the region and 1.9 percentage points higher than the previous year, according to the statistics released by National Energy Administration (NEA).
Among them, the power consumption of non-hydropower renewable energy reached 20.6 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 21 percent of the total power consumption and ranking the first by proportion nationwide.
Ningxia is the first comprehensive demonstration area of new energy in China, with the wind power and photovoltaic power generation playing leading roles in the renewable energy power industry.
In 2017, the installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power reached 9.42 million kilowatts and 6.2 million kilowatts respectively, ranking the sixth and 11th nationwide and accounting for 22 percent and 15 percent of the total installed capacity. And the utilization hours of wind power and solar power reached 1,650 hours and 1,326 hours respectively, an increase of 6.2 percent and 2.2 percent year-on-year.
In the future, Ningxia will continue to broaden new energy consumption channels and expand utilization efficiency of new energy.
