BEIJING, June 4 (Xinhua) – China in early June will roll out a three-year action plan for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD), one of China’s most economically dynamic regions comprising Shanghai Municipality and three provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, the Xinhua-run Economic Information Daily reported Monday citing reliable sources.
Under the plan, China aims to build the YRD into a world-class industrial cluster and pilot demonstration zone for new technology application, according to the report.
The report said focusing on automobiles, integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, and smart cities, the local governments in the YRD mobilized a group of leading Chinese companies to participate in the plan.
The country also plans to accelerate a trans-provincial transportation and communications network in the YRD. By 2020, the YRD will be fully covered by the 5G network. (Contributed by Zhang Jun, Ding Lei, dinglei@xinhua.org, edited by Zhang Aifang, zhangaf@xinhua.org)
