GUIYANG, May 27 (Xinhua) -- A forum on the cloud service layout under the Belt and Road construction was held on Sunday at the ongoing China International Big Data Industry Expo 2018 in Guiyang City, southwest China's Guizhou Province from May 26 to 29.
The forum, themed “Digital Economy: Cloud Service Layout under ‘Belt & Road’ Construction” , is sponsored by China International Big Data Industry Expo 2018 Organizing Committee, and is organized jointly by China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency and SinoCloud Centre Holding Limited.
Attendees from the government departments, domestic and foreign research institutions, companies discussed and exchanged ideas on how to realize the digital connection and the cloud service layout under the Belt and Road Initiative, and then put forward forward-looking ideas and practical suggestions at the forum.
In today’s rapid development of information technology, China’s development in the new era and the smooth implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative are inseparable from the digital economy and digital technology. Based on the “Xinhua Silk Road Cloud” service, CEIS launches the “Xinhua Silk Road Global Roadshow Cloud Platform” application, with the aim to offer quick and effective communication services for the Chinese companies’ “going global” and the foreign companies’ “coming in”, said Kuang Lecheng, vice president of the CEIS, at the forum.
Kuang noted that in the second half of this year, Xinhua News Agency will rely on Xinhua Silk Road, China’s state information service platform focusing on the Belt and Road Initiative, to initiate the establishment of an economic information alliance under the Belt and Road, in an effort to provide various kinds of professional and high-end economic information services.
Yang Mingjin, Secretary of the CPC Guiyang Baiyun District Committee, in his keynote speech, believed that the “Xinhua Silk Road Global Roadshow Cloud Platform” application will facilitate the global investment promotion and industrial development of various development zones, bonded zones, and free trade zones.
Meanwhile, experts and scholars attending the forum also discussed, in depth, about how to make good use of cloud services to promote the Belt and Road construction from the perspectives of the development trend of the cloud economy, the application of new technologies in cloud services, the expansion of the cloud service market, and the big data development model of the county economy.
While creating new industries, the big data is promoting transformation and upgrading of the traditional industries. At present, the big data research and application are facing barriers such as insufficient data and talents, high thresholds for application investment, and weak core technology capabilities, said Wu Jiangxing, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, adding that the future competition of the data industry lies in the development technology of deep data resources, which requires forward-looking research on data science, continuous innovation of data technologies, and vigorous promotion of the industry.
Joe Weinman, the father of cloud economics, pointed out that core technologies such as big data and cloud services are the most important in the future. Of the company’s strategies, some core technologies can be optimized through digital cloud services and applied in different fields and scenarios.
Zhang Dai, president of SinoCloud Centre Holding Limited, believed that providing cloud services requires the service concept that is highly market-oriented and customer-oriented so as to provide customers with a personalized and customized system architecture which can balance availability, security, and cost efficiency.
In addition, on the forum, through the “Xinhua Silk Road Global Roadshow Cloud Platform”, guests attending the forum had the video connection with the guests in Vientiane, Laos, and Changzhi City, China's Shanxi Province.
At the same time, economic information reporters of the CEIS in New York and Sydney also participated in the forum through the application platform.
Based on “Xinhua Silk Road Cloud” and the remote video technology, the “Xinhua Silk Road Global Roadshow Cloud Platform” application integrates interactive video, teleconferencing, and video live broadcasting to help the industrial parks and enterprises promote investment introduction, project roadshow, product launch, and training, etc. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
