BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Qingdao International Cooperation Zone, located in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao, Shandong Province, has initially formed a smart manufacturing industry cluster and become a new platform for Qingdao's opening-up and international cooperation.
In recent years, Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone has been actively expanding international cooperation and building industrial clusters supported by smart manufacturing. It has attracted many industrial parks including Sino-German Ecopark, China-Britain Innovation Industry Park, Sino-French Industrial and Commercial Innovation Base, China-Japan-Republic of Korea Innovation Industrial Park, China-Finland Center, China-Switzerland Center and Sino-Russian Regional Cooperation Park.
“From the beginning of the construction, the economic cooperation zone has actively carried out international cooperation”, said Zhao Shiyu, director of the management committee of Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone.
The economic cooperation zone, with a planning area of 202 square kilometers and a total investment of more than 40 billion yuan, has registered 152 enterprises at present, including over 50 foreign-funded ones and seven Fortune Global 500 companies.
In the future, the economic cooperation zone will continue to introduce innovative research and development institutions such as artificial intelligence, robot, Internet industrial platforms and intelligent solutions, and advanced manufacturing companies such as smart factories, customized factories and digital workshops.
