Hong Kong, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Aiming to promote the “unimpeded trade”, the first Belt and Road International Food Expo (Hong Kong) (BRIFE) 2018, which will take place from June 27 to June 29, will forge a one-stop professional platform for global agrifood trade and investment cooperation, according to the information from Hong Kong Trade Development Council(HKTDC).

BRIFE will last 3 days with the theme “steering world food industries to new opportunities”. It can help the world food industries to explore, share and create the businesses.

The expo can provide 1,200 booths. Exhibitors from over 35 countries and regions around the world will participate.

The BRIFE 2018 includes 5 halls covering 30 major food categories, to provide collaboration opportunities for G2B and B2B large-scaled investment.

The 5 halls include the investment hall, the professional service hall, the food trade hall, the snack food hall as well as the halal food hall.

HKTDC points out that the global halal food industry is estimated to be worth 2.3 trillion US dollars, and 80 percent of halal foods are depending on imports. At present, there is a huge demand for halal foods across the globe.

There is just a new investment project in Brazil announced by HKTDC. It is a halal food production project, including production and processing of halal-certified meat which will be exported from the north of Brazil to Asia.
