BAKU, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese citizens can get an Azerbaijan visa via self-service terminals upon arrival at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan said Tuesday.
Starting Tuesday, citizens of 15 countries including China, Japan, Israel, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey can obtain Azerbaijani visa upon landing in Baku at the airport via ASAN Visa self-service terminals, said the ministry in a message on its official website.
Built-in ASAN Visa self-service terminals are equipped with special purpose passport readers, payment terminals for electronic and cash payments.
ASAN Visa portal and self-service terminals operate in seven languages, including Azerbaijani, English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Persian and Russian, according to local reports.
Azerbaijan's government has eased its visa policy to simplify a procedure for issuing visas to foreigners wishing to visit Azerbaijan, as well as to ensure immediacy and transparency of this process.
According to the foreign ministry, from Feb. 1, 2016, Chinese citizens can get an Azerbaijan visa at service windows for visa issuance at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
Statistics showed more than 10,000 Chinese tourists visited Azerbaijan in 2017.
