BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- China has become the world’s largest robot application market for five consecutive years, with output of the industrial robots exceeding 130,000 units last year, accounting for more than a quarter of the global industrial robot market share, the Economic Information Daily reported on Friday.
In recent years, China’s robot industry has developed rapidly. In 2017, the global robot market reached 23.2 billion U.S. dollars and the Chinese market was approximately 6.28 billion U.S. dollars in the same period.
The average growth rate of the global robot market from 2012 to 2017 was about 17 percent, while that of the Chinese market during the same period reached 28 percent.
At present, scope of the robot application has expanded into many fields such as agriculture and electric power. It is estimated that by 2020, the size of the Chinese robotics industry will exceed 60 billion yuan, according to a report previously released by CCID Consulting Company.
