China imported 8,053.6 tons of tea from January to March 2018, an increase of 31.5 percent year on year. The value of China's tea imports amounted to 37.9 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 31.2 percent year on year. The average price was 4,707.2 U.S. dollars per ton, a decrease of 0.2 percent year on year.
In March alone, China imported 3,041.4 tons of tea, an increase of 67.5 percent month on month. The imports amounted to 15.4 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 84.7 percent month on month. The average price was 5,055.8 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 10.3 percent month on month. Compared with March 2017, there was an increase of 33.8 percent in quantity, an increase of 40.6 percent in value, and an increase of 5.0 percent in average price.
Among all the countries and regions that exported tea to China from January to March 2018, ranking by value, Sri Lanka ranked first with 15.3 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 37.2 percent year on year; Taiwan ranked second with 8.5 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 35.2 percent year on year; India ranked third with 6.1 million U.S. dollars, a decrease of 6.2 percent year on year.
In March alone, Sri Lanka ranked first with value of 6.4 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 33.0 percent year on year; Taiwan ranked second with value of 3.9 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 60.8 percent year on year; India ranked third with value of 2.2 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 8.4 percent year on year.
