BEIJING, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Gansu, an inland province located in Northwest China, is taking a series of measures to attract high-quality talent to work in the province, according to a circular issued in mid-April.
Under the measures, technology-related talent will be especially welcomed to develop a career in Gansu. Once accepted as Special Technology Expert (STE) by the province, expats may preside over or participate in major science and technology projects at the national or provincial level.
In terms of incentives, STEs will receive extra 4,000 yuan of allowances from Gansu provincial government every month, and qualified foreign experts will get a lump sum of 200,000 yuan of settling-in allowances.
Meanwhile, subsidies will be offered to qualified scientific research projects that have attracted foreign workers.
Gansu provincial government will also streamline recruitment process for STEs. (Contributed by Zhang Jun, Ding Lei, dinglei@xinhua.org, edited by Zhang Aifang, zhangaf@xinhua.org)
