BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhua) -- A groundbreaking ceremony for Weihai Service Trade Industrial Park was held in Weihai Economic and Technological Development Zone on April 26, marking the accelerated construction of the industrial park.
Located in the core area of Weihai Economic and Technological Development Zone, Weihai Service Trade Industrial Park is the only physical industrial park for service trade in the pilot areas of China. It will cover an area of 516 mu (34.4 hectares) with a construction area of 1.1 million square meters and require a total investment of 6.5 billion yuan. Focusing on the software application and development, service outsourcing, e-commerce and information and communication technologies, the industrial park is aimed to build a 100 billion yuan-level service trade industry cluster based in Weihai and can influence Northeast Asia, and to create a demonstration base for national service trade.
Since the start of construction of the industrial park, 18 high-tech projects have been successfully introduced, including Softbank Global Software Park, Inspur Belt and Road National Cloud Service Operation Center and Chinasoft International Cloud Software Park, with investment totaling 1.5 billion yuan. These projects are predicted to generate main business revenue of 30 billion yuan after going into full operation.
It plans to complete the construction of the industrial park in three years, and introduce more than 200 companies including over 20 well-known companies and listed companies. (Contributed by Tong Wei, Edited by Zhang Aifang)
