BEIJING, May 3 (Xinhua) -- China imported 8,582.2 metric tons (tonnes) of brandy in the first three months of 2018, an increase of 19.5 percent year on year, according to a month report released jointly by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's brandy imports amounted to 216.516 million U.S. dollars in January to March, an increase of 38.1 percent year on year. The average price was 25,228.6 U.S. dollars per tonne, an increase of 15.6 percent year on year.
China imported 2,584.5 tonnes of brandy in March, 2018, an increase of 32.6 percent month on month. The value of China's brandy imports amounted to 68.804 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 64.9 percent month on month. The average price was 26,621.5 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 24.3 percent month on month.
Compared with March 2017, there was a decrease of 6.4 percent in quantity, an increase of 32.4 percent in value, and an increase of 41.5 percent in average price. (Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
