BEIJING, May 2 (Xinhua) -- China imported 868,474.4 tonnes of alcoholic drink from January to March, 2018, an increase of 198.3 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's alcoholic drink imports amounted to 1.494973 billion U.S. dollars during the period, an increase of 60.9 percent on year.
In March alone, China imported 314,291.5 tonnes of alcoholic drink, up 172.1 percent year on year.
From January to March, 2018, among all the countries and regions that export alcoholic drink to China, France ranked the first by 509.104 million U.S. dollar value of alcoholic drink, up 25.1 percent year on year followed by Australia and the United States, with value of 223.965 million U.S. dollars and 215.123 million U.S. dollars.
In March, 2018, France ranked first with a value of 153.976 million U.S. dollars, followed by Australia and the United States. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
