BEIJING, May. 2 (Xinhua) -- China imported 8,053.6 tonnes of tea from January to March, 2018 , an increase of 31.5 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's tea imports amounted to 37.92 million U.S. dollars during the period, an increase of 31.2 percent on year.
In March alone, China imported 3,041.4 tonnes of tea, up 33.8 percent year on year.
From January to March, 2018, among all the countries and regions that export tea to China, Sri Lanka ranked the first by 15.332 million U.S. dollar value of tea, up 37.2 percent year on year followed by Taiwan and India, with value of 8.543 million U.S. dollars and 6.12 million U.S. dollars.
In March, 2018, Sri Lanka ranked first with a value of 6.355 million U.S. dollars, followed by Taiwan and India, with value of 3.95million U.S. dollars and 2.21 million U.S. dollars, respectively. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
