NANJING, Apr.20 (Xinhua) -- Global semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix will set up a hospital in Wuxi city, East China's Jiangsu province, to explore the local medical care industry, local authorities said Thursday.
The company from the Republic of Korea signed an agreement with the Wuxi's high-tech zone Wednesday to establish a hospital, with a total investment of around 3.8 billion yuan (around $605 million), according to the city government.
The hospital will include several medical centers involving minimally invasive surgery, the treatment of tumors and dialysis treatment.
It is expected to open in 2022.
Affiliated with SK Group, SK Hynix has invested more than $11 billion since it first came to Wuxi in 2005. The hospital project is believed to be the group's new move to explore China's medical care industry.
Li Xiaomin, Party chief of Wuxi, said that the city would fully support the hospital project, which will increase Wuxi's supply of advanced medical resources.
