BEIJING, Apr. 8 (Xinhua) -- German intercity bus company FlixBus earlier this month tested its first all-electric long-distance route in Europe for which e-buses produced by Chinese bus makers have been operating successfully, according to a report by China News Service on April 7.
The Munich-based bus company announced this March the test-run of the above all-electric e-bus route linking Paris and Amiens, France, which would use e-buses made by China's Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co.
It also said that the second Flix-e-Bus will hit the road between Hessen and Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany this summer, as part of the German domestic network expansion for summer travelers. For this route, all the e-buses will be supplied by Chinese bus maker, BYD.
"Currently, the Chinese bus models are the state-of-the-art concepts for e-mobility," FlixBus CEO Jochen Engert earlier told Xinhua.
The current test route spans 150-160 km and the company is discussing further cooperation with its partners including Chinese companies on areas such as extending all-electric bus route distance, the CEO said.
FlixBus was founded in 2013, and has quickly established Europe's largest long-distance bus network. In 2017, it carried 40 million passengers. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
