BEIJING, Apr. 3 (Xinhua) -- China imported 12,228.2 tonnes of spirits from January to February, 2018, an increase of 39.4 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's spirits imports amounted to 202.177 million U.S. dollars during the period, an increase of 49.8 percent on year, at an average price of 16,533.7 U.S. dollars per tonne, up 7.4 percent year on year.
In February alone, China imported 3,878.3 tonnes of spirits, flat with the volume a year ago, value standing at 57.339 million U.S. dollars, down 4.9 percent year on year.
From January to February, 2018, among all the countries and regions that export spirits to China, France ranked the first by 148.544 million U.S. dollars in value of spirits, up 41 percent year on year followed by the United Kingdom (UK) with a value of 23.731 million U.S. dollars, up 70.2 percent year on year.
In February, 2018, France ranked first with a value of 42.117 million U.S. dollars, followed by the UK with a value of 7.346 million U.S. dollars. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
