BEIJING, Apr. 3 (Xinhua) -- China imported 554,178.9 tonnes of alcoholic drinks from January to February, 2018, an increase of 215.5 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's alcoholic drink imports amounted to 980.439 million U.S. dollars during the period, an increase of 64.9 percent on year, at an average price of 1,769.2 U.S. dollars per tonne, down 47.7 percent year on year.
In February alone, China imported 268,080.1 tonnes of alcoholic drinks with total value of 336.675 million U.S. dollars, up 264.9 percent and 33 percent year on year, respectively.
From January to February, 2018, among all the countries and regions that export alcoholic drinks to China, France ranked the first by 355.128 million U.S. dollars in value of alcoholic drinks, up 33.5 percent year on year followed by the United States and Australia, with value of 139.522 million U.S. dollars and 134.661 million U.S. dollars, up 961.6 percent and 47.5 percent year on year, respectively.
In February, 2018, France ranked first with a value of 105.57 million U.S. dollars, followed by the United States and Australia, with value of 86.366 million U.S. dollars and 34.472 million U.S. dollars, respectively. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
