BEIJING, Apr. 3 (Xinhua) -- China imported 5,012.3 tonnes of tea from January to February, 2018 , an increase of 30.1 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's tea imports amounted to 22.549 million U.S. dollars during the period, an increase of 25.6 percent on year, at an average price of 4,498.8 U.S. dollars per tonne, down 3.5 percent year on year.
In February alone, China imported 1,815.8 tonnes of tea with a value of 8.323 million U.S. dollars, down 19.1 percent and 23.1percent year on year, respectively.
From January to February, 2018, among all the countries and regions that export tea to China, Sri Lanka ranked the first by 8.977 million U.S. dollars in value of tea, up 40.4 percent year on year. In February, Sri Lanka ranked first with a value of 3.263 million U.S. dollars. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
