VILNIUS, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite on Monday said that Lithuania attaches great importance to Lithuania-China relationship and practical cooperation with China.
Grybauskaite made the remarks after Shen Zhifei, the newly-posted Chinese ambassador, presented his credential at the presidential palace in Vilnius.
"I am very happy to see the development of bilateral relations, especially the increasing of trade, particularly the agricultural products export to China," said the president while welcoming the Chinese ambassador.
She said Lithuania highly appreciates China's great achievements in the past five years and its great potentials, and supports all-round cooperation between China and Europe.
"We know China is playing an important role in the world. Europe wants to be part of the Belt and Road Initiative," said the president.
She stressed both countries should continue enhancing practical cooperation in various fields such as trade and economy, logistics, agriculture, education and tourism.
The Chinese ambassador said China attaches great importance to the ties with Lithuania, and he will make joint efforts with Lithuania to promote bilateral relations to develop on a healthy and solid basis, expecting bilateral cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the "16+1" cooperation to yield more pragmatic results.
China and Lithuania established diplomatic relations in 1991.
