BEIJING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Norinco International Cooperation Ltd. (Norinco International) recently announced that it would invest in and operate a 156MW wind power project in Senj, Croatia, with an estimated total investment of 179.16 million euro (about 1.4 billion yuan).
Croatian firm Energija Projekt d.d., whose majority stake was previously acquired by Norinco International, will be responsible for the development and construction of the project as well as its operation after it is completed.
Located along the coast of the Adriatic Sea in central Croatia and eight kilometers northeast of Senj, the wind farm covers an area of 44.8 square kilometers and has an overall installed capacity of 156MW.
Its equipment mainly includes 39 units of 4MW wind turbines. It is estimated that its annual generating capacity would be 530 million kwh and that the project’s internal yield rate is 10.65 percent.
The contract covers 25 years, including 2 years of construction period and 23 years of operation period.
Construction of the project has not commenced in spite of the approval granted by the Croatian government.
