BEIJING, Jan.30 (Xinhua) -- Tibet Autonomous Region will speed up the construction of an international trading center for traditional Tibetan medicinal materials, according to the regional people’s congress on Saturday.
It is noted that the trading center construction has been included in the regional work plan for 2018.
In the next five years, Tibet plans to accelerate the development of plateau biological industry, including expanding and improving Tibetan medicine industry.
The trading center could support the scale development of Tibetan medicine industry, increase local people’s income, while help Tibet participate in the Belt and Road construction using its medicinal resources, according to Kelsang Yudron, director of the regional food and drug administration.
Two local ports in Xigaze and Ngari passed national assessment for medicinal material import customs clearance in 2017, which paved the way for construction of the trading center, She said. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
