BEIJING, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- China is expected to accelerate the construction, development and application of industrial Internet during the period of 2018-2020, according to a guideline released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The Xinhua-run Economic Information Daily reported that since 2018, China will gradually lay out advanced technologies such as IPv6, Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), Software Defined Networking (SDN), and 5G, forming a mature application and production system for the industrial Internet industry.

By 2020, China's industrial Internet platform system will take initial shape and is expected to set up 10-odd multi-industry, and cross-disciplinary enterprise-class platforms. In a meantime, the country will cultivate more than 300,000 industrial APPs to boost the development of relevant enterprises and their business, such as R&D design, manufacturing, and operation and management.

China will take the lead in promoting the corresponding network upgrades and technology applications in the fields of automotive, aerospace, petrochemical engineering, machinery manufacturing, and electronic components, helping enterprises to form a series of New intelligent equipment and intelligent production processes.

China attaches great importance to the development of industrial Internet and has released a series of policies and measures to promote the application and development of industrial internet.

U.S. industrial group General Electric, which first proposed the concept of industrial internet in 2012, predicted that the industrial internet is expected to affect 46 percent (about 32.3 trillion U.S. dollars) of the global economy in a near future. The industrial internet also has huge market space in China, according to the estimation by the MIIT, the development of China's industrial Internet will bring about at least 3 trillion U.S. dollars of GDP growth in the next 20 years, which will inject sustained momentum for manufacturing upgrade and economic growth. (Edited by Ma Xin,Bao Nuomin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
