BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- China will formulate overall strategic policies to support the development of emerging industry, including smart cars, Internet+, artificial intelligence, etc., Yan Pengcheng, senior official and spokesman of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) disclosed on Monday.
The Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities Journal quoted Yan as saying that as China implemented a strategy of innovation-driven development in the past five years, research and development expenditure has expanded by an annual rate of more than 11 percent and sci-tech progress have contributed more to economic development.
The country saw rapid integration of the Internet with real economic sector and led the world in terms of the sharing economy, online shopping and mobile payment, according to the spokesperson.
Yan disclosed that in a bid to implement the strategy of innovation-driven development, NDRC was expected to promote the construction of national industrial innovation centers. Meanwhile, the guideline will also be formulated to establish innovative centers, covering the fields of digital economy, biological economy, and green economy, so as to boost the integration of available innovation resources, and create better groups and platforms to support the development of emerging industrial clusters in the country.
Meanwhile, China plans to push forward the development of smart cars and achieve the industrialization of key technology in the field. Yan said that China will unveil a three-year action plan to propose solutions for the industrialization of smart car technology such as chips and automatic driving systems.
Furthermore, in order to promote the innovation and development of advanced technology, such as Internet+ and artificial intelligence, and accelerate the development of digital economy, the country's top economic planner will improve policy system, strengthen infrastructure construction of digital economy and promote the integration and sharing of data resources.
