MADRID, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Spain's consumer prices rose by 1.7 percent in November when compared with the same month of a year earlier, according to data of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published by Spain's Statistical Office (INE) on Thursday.

The INE said that November annual inflation rate was 0.1 percent lower than that of October.

According to the Institute prices of gasoline and central heating oil have had an impact in the evolution of prices, especially on rises in prices of transport and items related to housing.

Prices of transport rose by 3.5 percent in November year-on-year due to rises in prices of fuel and prices of items related to housing increased by 2.5 percent.

Prices of clothing and shoes rose by 0.4 percent, those of hotel, cafes and restaurants increased by 1.8 percent, prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks increased by 2.2 percent and those of items related to leisure and culture rose by 1.2 percent.

Spain's consumer prices have been rising for 15 consecutive months in a row after registering negative rates for eight consecutive months.

The INE also reported that on a month-to-month basis Spain's consumer prices rose by 0.5 percent.

The Spanish government predicted that the country's CPI would slow down in the following months and it would be close to 1 percent by the end of the year.
