PARIS, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The First Session of Paris Forum on Belt and Road Initiative was jointly held by China’s Embassy in France and the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS), a renowned French think tank, in Paris, France on November 29.

Xinhua Silk Road, a information service platform introduced by China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency, caught attention among the attendees, who came from Chinese and French governments, enterprises, media and think tanks.

The Paris Forum on Belt and Road Initiative marks the first communication platform on the Belt and Road jointly established by a Chinese embassy and a top European think tank, and it received more attention than expected.

Centered on the politic impetus, economic driving force, cultural influence brought by the Belt and Road Initiative, the forum is aimed to spark ideas, answer doubts and build consensus in an effort to push forward China-France and China-EU cooperation.

Since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed, all walks of life in France have increasingly paid attention to and participated in the Belt and Road construction, with a batch of projects put in place. The French think tanks' research on the Belt and Road has also increased.

China and France have a lot in common in terms of international governance, multilateralism, coping with climate change, and digital economic development. Nowadays, more than 6,000 cargo train trips have been launched between Chinese and European cities. China and France can reach lots of consensus under the Belt and Road Initiative and promote their economic growths and employments, said Zhai Jun, the Chinese ambassador to France.

The French president Emmanuel Macron has attached great importance to the France-China relations and place great expectations on the two countries' pragmatic cooperation under the Belt and Road framework, according to Pascal Boniface, founding director of IRIS.

Former Prime Minister of Italy Enrico Letta said at the forum that the Belt and Road Initiative stresses the multilateral win-win with forward-looking insight. The relation between China and Europe has been closer and their co-construction of the Belt and Road would help them cope with common challenges, which meets Europe's interests.

Kuang Lecheng, vice president of China Economic Information Services (CSIS) said that media and think tank cooperation should be enhanced between China and France, even in Europe, in a bid to highlight the cultural exchanges and cooperation, and promote people-to-people bonds along the Belt and Road routes.

At the forum, Kuang introduced the national information service platform --Xinhua Silk Road, which serves global participants of the initiative with all-dimensional, full workflow information products and consulting services, in a bid to help Chinese companies “go out” and companies outside China “come in”. Its services cover information search engine, country-specific research, business projects release and trade matching, as well as investment and international trade-related customized services covering such fields as finance, patent, accounting, tax affairs, law affairs, training and exhibition.

The CEIS is looking forward to strengthening cooperation with France and all French-speaking countries, so as to boost the information connectivity and share the development opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative with them, Kuang said.

A leader from the Bridge Tank of France noted that the conference truly reflects the confusion and focus of French people on the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as problems which need to be addressed, which marks an improvement.

“I am deeply impressed by the Chinese concept of ‘win-win cooperation’ and convinced that the Belt and Road Initiative are bound to bring benefits to me and other French people in the future,” said a participant from a France-based consulting company.

In the meantime, the Xinhua Silk Road information platform has attracted deep interest from a lot of participants. Some enterprises and institutions have expressed their cooperation intention on the spot, which covered many fields including economy, trade and cultural exchange. Participants are all looking forward to seeing the French information service to be launched by the Xinhua Silk Road as soon as possible, which can satisfy the information demand from many French-speaking countries and help them join the Belt and Road Initiative.

During the forum, the Chinese and French sides have reached a series of cooperation intention in politics, business, agriculture, media, think tank and other fields. The 2nd Belt and Road Paris Forum is scheduled to be held in 2018. Enditem
