GUANGZHOU, Nov.29, (Xinhua)--The Belt and Road Initiative has become a new trend to influence the international maritime industry, said Susumu Naruse, Secretary General of International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH).
In order to respond to the Belt and Road Initiative, IAPH will hold a world port conference next year in Baku, capital city of Azerbaijan, according to him.
Susumu Naruse made remarks on “The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” Forum on International Communication and Chinese (Guangdong) Companies Going Global held Wednesday in Zhuhai, a coastal city of south China's Guangdong province.
"There are new trends emerging in the international maritime industry, such as increasing ship size, development of carrier alliances, terminal automation, utilization of IT and AI, global warming considerations," he added.
