GUANGZHOU, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Shen Haixiong, member of the standing committee of the CPC Guangdong provincial committee Wednesday called for more cooperations and communications among countries along the Maritime Silk Road, at the “The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road" Forum on International Communication and Chinese (Guangdong) Companies Going Global held in Zhuhai, south China’s Guangdong province.
Only cooperation makes a win-win situation and communication promotes exchange, said Shen, who is also the Director-general of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, when delivering a keynote speech titled "Let Cultural Communication to Be the Goodwill Emissary of the Maritime Silk Road."
According to the report delivered at the 19th CPC National Congress, China will actively promote international cooperation through the Belt and Road Initiative by achieving connectivity in policy, infrastructure, trade, financial and people and thus build a new platform for international cooperation to create new driving force of shared development.
Shen said that this forum is a concrete measure to put in place the spirits of the 19th CPC National Congress and the Belt and Road Initiative. It is also a practice to implement the instructions of the CPC central committee on the work of Guangdong to support Chinese enterprises, especially enterprises of Guangdong, on their way of “going global”.
Guangdong is a well-developed province in economy and trade. Its GDP has ranked first in China for 28 consecutive years. In 2016, the total import and export value of trade in goods occupied more than a quarter of the country. Meanwhile, Guangdong is also a well-developed province in media, which has been committed to building platforms for cultural exchanges and cooperation, especially platforms for media cooperation, according to Shen.
"As an important hub of the “Belt and Road” and the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, Guangdong hopes to take this forum as an opportunity to extend the width and depth of our exchanges and cooperation, tell the new dreams of the Silk Road well to convey the positive energy and good news of international exchanges and cooperation and better promote the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt", Shen said.
