GUANGZHOU, Nov.30 (Xinhua) -- The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is not just about strengthening trade relations and exchanging more merchandise between China and Europe. It aims to bring more stability to the Eurasian region and connect its nations on a previously unprecedented scale, said Istvan Ujhelyi, President of Europe China One Belt One Road Cultural & Tourism Development Committee.
“All projects that aim to create win-win situations are founded upon people-to-people relationship, and the rest is built on that solid foundation”, said Ujhelyi in his speech delivered at a parallel forum of “The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” Forum on International Communication and Chinese (Guangdong) Companies Going Global held in Zhuhai on November 29.
With the help of the tourism industry and fostering people-to-people relations, it will be possible for the world to enter a new era that is defined by cooperation, prosperity, and mutual understanding, according to Ujhelyi.
Ujhelyi also mentioned the upcoming EU-China Year of Tourism in 2018, which will be “a new milestone in EU-China relationship”.
Founded by Ujhelyi, the OBOR Committee has created a platform for politicians, businessmen and professional stakeholders interested in EU-China relations to exchange views and develop mutually beneficial ties. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
