BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cheniere Energy Inc. for cooperation in long-term LNG sales and purchase.
Under the MoU, CNPC will strengthen cooperation with Cheniere Energy in the LNG project in the Gulf of Mexico. In addition, it will play a significant role in promoting long-term cooperation between China and the United States in LNG purchase business.
Chinese and American enterprises have been committed to deepening exchange and cooperation in the oil & gas industry, thereby improving their energy consumption structure. In this context, the MoU may be deemed as an achievement of deepening collaboration and development between Chinese and American oil & gas enterprises over the past 20 years. In addition, the MoU is significant to the establishment of closer trade relations and future energy cooperation between the two global economic powers. Looking ahead, PetroChina International Co., Ltd. will continue to negotiate with Cheniere Energy on the purchase contract.
Cheniere Energy is the largest LNG export project constructor and operator as well as the first LNG exporter in the U.S. (Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
