BEIJING, Nov.2 (Xinhua) -- A launch ceremony was held to initiate the trial run of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan land transportation route in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan on October 30.
The line starts in Tashkent, passes Osh, Kyrgyzstan and ends in Kashgar, Xinjiang province, China. It has a length of some 900 kilometers, 390 of which are in Uzbekistan, 260 in Kyrgyzstan and 250 in China. The three countries each supplied three freight carriers for the trial run.
According to Cheng Ping, Safety Director of the China’s Ministry of Transport, the countries share geographical proximity and cultural similarities and are good neighbors and important partners. The launch of trial operations is not only a concrete action to implement the consensus reached by the countries’ leaders on co-constructing the Silk Road Economic Belt and promoting transport cooperation, but is also a major move to enhance economic and trade relations and create a new pattern for regional development.
