BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian Gomel-1 Power Plant, an EPC project undertaken by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), has started operations after upgrade and renovation. The power plant’s generating capacity has been improved while its energy consumption has reduced.
The upgrading project involved the construction of a 35MW steam-gas power plant, including design, goods supply, construction and installation, commissioning, testing and quality assurance.
Addressing the commissioning ceremony, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said that the new Gomel-1 Plant would meet Gomel’s ever-growing energy demand, besides ensuring stable energy supply to locals.
This is the first time that CMEC has undertaken an upgrade and renovation project in the energy sector with a loan from the World Bank. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
