BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tech giant Xiaomi launched an updated version of its full-screen display smartphone Monday, continuing to offer a larger-than-average screen-to-body ratio.
The Mi MIX 2 is smaller in size than the company's first full-screen display smartphone the Mi MIX, which has a 17:9 aspect ratio screen. The Mi MIX 2 has a 18:9 full screen display, making the screen look like it almost entirely fills the front surface.
The updated version also has a hidden speaker and a stronger ultrasonic proximity sensor.
Supported by 43 networks, the Mi MIX 2 can be used almost anywhere in the world, making it convenient for travelers who often use different networks.
The Mi MIX 2 has evolved from a design and technology test into a user-friendly phone catering to a wider consumer group than ever before, according to Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi, who believes that full-screen display smartphones will be the major trend in the next decade.
Starting from 3,299 yuan (505.7 U.S. dollars), the Mi MIX 2 will be available in China from Sept. 15 onwards and will make its way to selected global markets at a later date.
Xiaomi also launched its best camera smartphone, the Mi Note 3, and a high-performance professional laptop, the Mi Notebook Pro.
