BEIJING, Aug.17 (Xinhua)-- Golden Concord Group Limited (GCL)’s first coal-fired power generation project Kalbar-1 in Indonesia started operation recently, which was the first power generation project by a Chinese private enterprise in Indonesia with a formal Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
Located in the western part of Kalimantan, Indonesia, 130 miles from West Kalimantan’s capital Pontianak, the Kalbar-1 project plans to construct two 100MW coal-fired power generation units, and is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
The project was co-constructed by Taicang Harbour Golden Concord Electric-Power Generation Co., Ltd and Indonesia Power, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
In recent years, GCL has been rapidly expanding its overseas businesses. It has joined the plan of “Lighting up Africa” in Djibouti, Africa, joining hands with China Poly Group Corporation to build the largest LNG industrial base in East Africa. (Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
